Sima Farazi hat sich im Rahmen ihrer vom DAAD ausgezeichneten Masterarbeit am Lehrstuhl für Kontinuumsmechanik mit der Simulation des sogenannten Slump Tests mit Hilfe der "Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics" - Methode beschäftigt und dazu den hauseigenen Forschungscode entscheidend weiterentwickelt.

Interest and motivation
The aim of this study is to investigate the use of the mesh-free method "SPH" to
non-Newtonian shear flow and, ultimately, the free surface problem including non-Newtonian rheology. The basic idea of the SPH method is to provide accurate and stable numerical solutions with a set of arbitrarily distributed particles without using any mesh which leads to the connectivity of these particles. The SPH method as a fully Lagrangian mesh-free method, can follow time history of physical variables and appropriately treat the complex geometries and large deformations in a wide application from micro- to macro-scale phenomena.

My master thesis was simulation of non-Newtonian fluid using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method. This work was completely numeric and consists of three parts. The first was gathering information about the subject and method, in which taking efficient note from references could be very useful for my writing process.
The second task was modelling our problem with this special method which could be the most difficult part of the work. However, one has to be patient enough to pass through this phase and overcome frustration due to the errors! In this part, time management was very important. Fortunately, by the great advice from my supervisors I could gather the results and finish this part. Conclusion and discussion about the results was the last part which needed more concentration. Interestingly, I was able to resolve some errors of the model at this part, because it was possible to analyse results and source of errors in more detail.
I should say this work would not have been possible without the assistance and help of several people. As a great opportunity, I had three Hiwis during my M.Sc. studies which helped me to know in which research field I should chose my master thesis topic. Generally the assistance and support at this chair was very helpful.

I am now desired to do my PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics of combustion at RWTH Aachen university. Clearly, the aim of that is to basically make a good career, to do a good research and education, and publish effective publications, capable of contributing to any change or upgrade in research and hopefully routine life.

I go hiking very often because I enjoy of being in the nature and having adventure.
