How to overcome gravity – RUB-Startup wins Industry Prize 2015
A trip to space is expensive and not every company owns the resources to test their probes and ingredients in the weightlessness of a space capsule. Acoustic Levitation solves this problem by providing weightlessness on earth. With their startup „BOROSA Acoustic Levitation“,two former students of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering recently won this year’s Industry Prize in the category “Research and Development”. Congratulations!

Application of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics to Non-Newtonian Fluid Flow
Sima Farazi was awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for her outstanding Master thesis, which she wrote at the chair for continuum mechanics. In her thesis, Sima dealt with the simulation of the so-called Slump Test, applying the method of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. With her results, she provided a substantial contribution for our in-house research code.
